The Edo State Governor, Adams Oshiomhole, yesterday stated that his new wife is not a replacement of his late wife, Clara, whom he said is irreplaceable.
Speaking at a Wedding Thanksgiving Mass held at the Immaculate Conception Cathedral, Auchi, on Sunday, Mr. Oshiomhole also debunked reports that his wife is a ‘top model’ saying the speculation might have been generated from her poise and beauty.
He said, “When I read newspaper stories and they say that Comrade has married a ‘top model’ I’m like maybe it’s another person.
“The lady that God has directed to my path and heart to marry is not and was not a model. Of course, she looks beautiful and I understand that is why people assume that this kind of a lady must be a model but of course, she is a model in my heart and we hope and pray that we will be models in the heart of our God and I think that is the most important thing”.
Governor Oshiomhole appealed to the congregation to keep supporting him and his new wife in prayer saying,
“I ask you to please continue to pray for us. It is not easy. I lost my first wife and it is not possible to replace her. Yes, I have married another but it is not a replacement. You cannot replace a wife especially one you married when you were young and you were anonymous. Nobody knew you from anywhere, you had nothing, no car, no house; now, that you can never replace. But I understand that under the Catholic doctrine I am entitled to have another wife which is what I am trying to do.
“Thank you for your prayers, support and blessings that you have always showered on me and the one you conveyed this morning on me and my new wife and we ask for more and more prayers that this marriage will be my last and that God will help us, to unite us and bond us together with the blood of Jesus”, he prayed.
The parish priest congratulated the governor and his new wife on their marriage and prayed for God’s peace and blessing on them.
The Thanksgiving mass was attended by the governor’s children, Steve, Jane and Adams (Jnr), the parents of his wife, Mr and Mrs Jesus Fortes, government functionaries, and well wishers

Reports have emerged that President Goodluck Jonathan is set to be appointed as a Global Crisis Envoy by the United Nations (UN).
 
The role is similar to that of former Britain’s prime minister, Mr. Tony Blair who was appointed the Middle East envoy for the United Nations after leaving office. Jonathan would be the first African former Head of State to be assigned such role and will oversee the affairs of the global body in the African continent. 

Jonathan, 57, holds a Bsc. in Zoology, an Msc. in Hydrobiology and Fisheries and a PhD in Zoology all from the University of Port Harcourt.


Prior to his role as President, he was Governor of Bayelsa State from 2005 to 2007 and Vice-President of NIGERIA from 2007 to 2010.

Former militant, Asari Dokubo has said that his group, the Niger Delta People Salvation Front, is ready to begin its battle again under the incoming administration of President-elect, Muhammadu Buhari. 
 
He revealed that himself and other ex-militants will return to their old ways of fighting for their region if Buhari ‘draws the first blood’. The ex-militant said this while speaking at the Annual Major Isaac Adaka Boro’s Memorial Public Event which held on Sunday. “Yes, a new government begins in Nigeria and a next phase of our struggle shall begin also. Jonathan Goodluck Presidency was like a restraining order now that restraint is lifted,” Asari Dokubo said. “However, we will watch and wait, let them draw the first blood and we shall determine our best way forward. Truly Nigeria will never be the same again the future is pregnant,” he added. “Should Buhari whom like pharaoh has determined in his heart to turn desolate the Niger Delta region, draw the first blood by undermining certain interest of the region then begin the systemic arrest, maiming and murder our comrades, continue the confiscation of our rights to self-determination and treat the region as a conquered region, then it may be honorable for some of us to die in prison or in the field of war as nobody is afraid of him,” the former militant said.
  
According to him, their struggle and agitation was never about to become the President of Nigeria but about freedom from what he described as “false and forced colonial union” “He, Jonathan Goodluck, was never in the struggle. He was not a product of the struggle but an establishment beneficiary of our struggle. Our struggle is not and never about becoming the president. It was not about being awarded oil licenses and mouth-watering contracts. It was not about massive infrastructural development of the Niger Delta Region. Asari Dokubo had previously threatened to unleash terror in Nigeria if President Goodluck Jonathan did not win the March 28 presidential election during an interview with Channels Television.

 

The grudge between President Goodluck Jonathan, former president Olusegun Obasanjo and the Rivers State Governor, Chibuike Amaechi seem to have have been subdued on Tuesday, in the last Council of State meeting hosted by President Jonathan, the convergence compelled an irresistible situation for the three men to reconcile in front of camera crew, despite speculations of it being a gambit. Before the commencement of the Council meeting, the governors across party divide were seen jesting, back slapping one another and discussing in groups. Obasanjo has been a constant critic of Jonathan’s administration, the latest being in February, when the elections were postponed. The former president, had at his Hilltop Mansion residence in Abeokuta, likened the politics played by Jonathan to “the do-or-die” politics played by the former President of Cote d’Ivoire, Laurent Gbagbo. President Jonathan had in a swift reaction, fired back, stating the allegations as baseless and preposterous. Obasanjo had also in an 18-page letter a year ago, accused the President of deceit, deception, dishonesty, incompetence, having a killer squad and clannishness among others.
 

The Rivers State governor on his part, had always pointed fingers at the president and his wife, Patience on any crisis in his state. President Jonathan was all smiles, shaking and holding hands with Obasanjo but the cameo of the event was when the President, while waiting for the valedictory photo-session at the fore court of the Presidential Villa, shook hands with governors around him, and on sighting Amaechi, playfully hit him in a friendly manner, with his fist on the shoulder and the Rivers State governor bowed, laughing and holding the President’s hand all the while, saying “Your Excellency.” Moved by the solidarity seen inside and outside the Council chambers, a reporter asked Governor Babangida Aliyu of Niger State how that could be translated to the common man on the street, and he replied: “I told you that one of the former heads of state moved for all these to be recorded, so that we make it as part of the tradition. Politics is not war. Yes, there is a price, but the moment there is a decision and someone gets the price, everyone should come back and wait for another chance. “So, the camaraderie that you noticed, is how it should be and we should send it down to our communities, to our people; so that even in one house, you can afford to vote for different parties but the moment results are announced, you will remain brothers and not enemies,” he said

How can a man beat you this way and you go back and give your body to him? More women need to be independent. I think women being financial dependent on their men is one of the top reasons why women stay in abusive marriages.  They have nowhere else to go. A suicide bomber believed to be about 10 years old struck the popular Bayan Tasha market/ motor park in Damaturu Yobe state at exactly 11am today May 16th killing 5 people with several others injured.

According to eyewitnesses, the little girl tried gaining access into the park but was stopped by the security men stationed at the entrance who subjects anyone coming into the park to proper search. It was in the process of searching the little girl that the bomb strapped under her hijab detonated, killing her, a security officer who was about to search her and three others. Several others who were close by got injured.

Yesterday, I told you guys that Davido had welcomed a child. Then I re-wrote it and said it was his sister. Well, I have to apologize for that. Some people tried to play mind tricks on me...Lol. It was Davido who actually welcomed a daughter, not his sister. Sharon Adeleke is still pregnant. You guys remember a post I did about a week ago saying an A-list artist was expecting a child? Read here. Well, I was talking about Davido. He just welcomed a daughter with a lady named Sophie Momodu.

Yesterday, Davido shared this photo of a hand holding a baby, it was his own way letting y'all know what is happening to him without saying much. I went to find out and yes, he's a dad! This is fact, not rumor! And I hear he's very excited about being a dad. Big congrats to him.

Barely 24 hours after his wedding to Cape Verde beauty, Iara Fortes, Edo state Governor, Adams Oshiomole participated in the annual 10kilometers Okpekpe road race alongside top Edo personalities, Nollywood artistes and others.

Oshiomhiole, who ran within the 10km VIP category, said although he did not win the competition, his participation in the race showed he can still do what young people can do

“I worked hard but was not successful. To do 10 kilometers after the wedding assured me that I am capable and strong to what young people can do” he said. Get ready, Lara! :-)
